Bambusa textilis gracilis
pictures, information and more

Bambusa textilis gracilis, also known as Graceful bamboo, is a cold hardy tropical clumping green bamboo that will create a distinct Asian feel in your landscape. A thin walled bamboo with culms that grow very straight and erect to a height of about 30 feet and 1.5 inches in diameter with a cold tolerance of about 18 degrees F. This was a new addition in 2009 to my collection courtesy of Chuck Theroux in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Originally planted on the east side of my house, it was not happy where I planted it. So it was potted up to restabilize it, and once it rebounded I put it in it's current home on the west side. As to the cold hardiness, Bambusa textilis gracilis was one of two tropical bamboos that suffered no frost damage when low temperatures reached nearly 18 degrees F this last winter.
