Also recognized as Vietchia merrillii and more widely known as the Christmas palm. A slender pinnate palm native of the Phillipines, it grows to heights of 30 ft and makes an excellent indoor speciman, often planted in groups of 2 or more. The bright red fruit develops and ripens in December, decorating the tree like little ornaments.

My brother gathered many fresh seeds from the Miami area, and they germinated quickly. However, our Central Florida growing location required us to greenhouse these, and once they put on some size we quickly realized that we did not have the room for them, and thus lost many to old man winter. Not certain if these will be cultivated by us in the future.
