A very cold hardy palm, also know as the Jelly, Wine or Pindo palm. A native of South America, it is a popular landscape speciman in the southestern US and northern California. Also very drought tolerant, and the bright yellow fruit is both edible and flavorful! Does well in full sun and is very cold hardy. I had a lovely one in my backyard but it died from bud rot after my backyard flooded last year during a tropical storm. We have several others growing in the field, but no seedlings at this time. |
