Butia capitata "Jelly Palm"
Welcome to Gator-Ventures.com Palm World!

Butia capitata
"Jelly Palm"

A native of South America, this distinct palm is easily recognized by it's stout trunk and graceful, arching pinnate fronds. Bright orange-yellowish-red fruit ripens in late Summer, which can be eaten fresh from the tree. Many use this fruit to make jelly and wine, hence it's the nickname Jelly Palm. One of the most cold tolerant of palm species, it is capable of taking several degrees of frost. Makes a stunning potted specimen when young and triking landscape specimen when older.

We currently have 2 year old seedlings growing in 1 and 3 gal pots.
