Known widely for it's bright red crownshaft, earning it's nickname Lipstick palm. Also known as the Red Sealing Wax palm for it's use in history for sealing wax. Certainly one of the most beautiful palms in the world, with the red crownshafts making it simply irresistable.

However, this is truly a severly tropical palm. I managed to germinate several dozen seedlings, but even in the greenhouse these did not survive. Cyrtostachys renda are known to be very finicky palms that require constant attention, temperatures and moisture. It is reported that even temps below 50F start to cause damage to this palm. I've killed numerous trying to get them to grow indoors, and thus we have none for sale.
