A native of Southeast Asia, also known as the Taraw palm. It is extremely fast growing and does well in full sun to partial shade. Juvenile plants have an abundance of sharp spines, which as the palm matures turn into thorns about 3 inches in length! Bright blue fruit when this palm matures make a striking appearance. This gorgeous yet wicked fan palm looks lovely in the landscape, however, with the thorns care should be taken on where it is planted. It will enjoy sunny, well drained positions and will develop considerable cold tolerance as it develops. Seed germinates easily, however, we have none of these available at them moment. |
