A native of the semi-arid plains of Africa, the Senegal date palm creates a beautiful and unusual landscape speciman. Growing in clumps with trunks reaching heights upward to 50 ft covered with brown fiber, it makes a striking centerppice in any landscape. Prefering a bright, sunny planting location, this palm is also very drought tolerant but will display faster growing if watered on a regular basis. A cold hardy palm that propagates easily from seed or division of suckers. The fruit produced is also edible, as well as the palm heart. Very salt tolerant, making it an excellent choice for oceanside plantings. We currently do not have any of these in stock. |
