A wonderful little landscape palm, the Pygmy Date palm is a moderate grower attaining heights of just 10 ft. A native to southeast Asia, these are often found in the US growing in clumps, however, hardly any of these are natural clumpers. Does well in containers or the landscape, however, is not as frost tolerant as others in the species. This palm loves to be in fun sun and is adaptable to most soils. It will benefit from a fertilizing every 3 months. Also makes an excellent containerized palm, however, it does have some spines on the petioles so keep it from walkways where someone could brush against it. Germinates very easily from seed, however, we currently have none available. |
