More commonly known as the Cabbage palm, this native of the Southeastern US is seen from the Carolinas to southern Florida. It is the state tree of Florida, as well being displayed on the state flag of South Carolina. Very salt and drought tolerant and adaptable to many types of soil as well as being very cold hardy, this palm can even withstand standing water!

The Sabal palmetto is also easily transplanted once they put on some trunk and thus one might find this in any commercial landscape. A slow grower, young trees may take up to 10 years to from trunk, but once that happens growth tends to increase. A regular dose of fertilizer will also help to increase that as well.
