Silver maple seedlings

Silver maple seedling description

Scientifically known as Acer saccharinum, the silver maple is native to eastern North America, with a growing range from southeast Canada to Central Florida. It is closely related to the Red maple and is known to hybridize with it. A very popular ornamental due to it's fast growth, it is commonly found in home landscapes being used for shade. The silver maple will generally attain a height of 50 to 80 feet, with the crown spread averaging two thirds the height. It tolerates a wide range of soils, and due to it's fibrous root structure it is recommended that it NOT be planted near septic and water lines, as well as planting it at least 10 feet from sidewalks, driveways, and foundations. The tree gets it's name from the silver hue on the bottom of the leaves, witht the Autumn color being yellow. Grows hardily in Zones 3 - 9.

Sold Out for the Season

Shipping begins mid-April once the frost is out of the ground. All plants are shipped bare root from my father's nursery in Midwestern Wisconsin. Please understand that commiting to a shipment date before this time frame just is not possible, however, if mother nature is kind and the ground thaws early then the trees will ship early. Every effort is made to ensure the plants you receive are healthy and ready to plant. However, it is impossible to guarantee planting results. Weather, soil conditions, insects and proper planting all play a part in successful growth.

We are not responsible for the plants health if you choose to order a plant that will simply not grow or survive in your area based on the pictured zone map. Please order responsibly.
