Sugar maple seedling description
Scientifically known as Acer saccharum, the sugar maple can be found growing naturally in the northeastern forests of North America. It's most widely known for it's sweet nectar, being tapped to extract it's sap for maple syrup. The wood is the one of the hardest maple woods, and is often used in furniture, flooring, bowling alley lanes and pins, as well basketball courts and many musical instruments. The Sugar maple produces a wonderful display of fall colors, and is thus widely used as a street and landscape ornamental. Listed as a medium rate grower, 10 year old trees will average 12 to 15 feet, with mature trees reaching 60 to 75 feet. Grows readily in Zones 3-8.

Shipping begins mid-April once the frost is out of the ground. All plants are shipped bare root from my father's nursery in Midwestern Wisconsin. Please understand that commiting to a shipment date before this time frame just is not possible, however, if mother nature is kind and the ground thaws early then the trees will ship early. Every effort is made to ensure the plants you receive are healthy and ready to plant. However, it is impossible to guarantee planting results. Weather, soil conditions, insects and proper planting all play a part in successful growth. We are not responsible for the plants health if you choose to order a plant that will simply not grow or survive in your area based on the pictured zone map. Please order responsibly. *** All prices shown INCLUDE shipping and handling charges. *** USDA Zone Listing |
